Mad for Madrid

Madrid was 9 days ago. And I’m still thinking about how lovely it was there. With the sun shining (on Sunday anyway) and intense blues skies. I took about 450 pictures in 2 days, trigger happy with my Dlux4 and my G1 with the Nokton lens.

It was a very hurriedly planned trip; I had intended to buy a guide book and plan out my limited 2 days in Madrid but that didn’t happen so at the airport, I was the first one to step into the bookstore when it opened at 6 in the morning and picked up a Top 10 Madrid. Together with a tourist map that I picked up from the hotel and a bus route guide which my first bus driver gave me.

I can’t believe it was effectively 7 hours of travelling time (including the 1 hour time difference between CET and GMT) to get me into Madrid proper. I left  at about 5 in the morning to catch the 07:25 flight, was fast asleep during take off and landing, waited ages for the Spaniards to unload my luggage and finally left the hotel after checking my things in at noon!

2 days in Madrid was definitely not enough. I could have spent another 3 there. I’ll be back.
