Shoot in Singapore

This is one of pictures that I really like from today’s shoot. Esther is my friend’s cell group mate and Theola is her daughter. It’s the first time I’m shooting someone who’s (1) not my friend directly and (2) older than I and (3) Asian and (4) with a child who’s approaching adolescence. It took a while to get Theola to warm up and I think I’m not good with kids - I don’t have patience and I don’t like to talk to them in a kiddy or condescending way. This picture is developed for light and all but unretouched. I think I want to take the imperfections out or just mask them slightly.
I am also noticing that my shots have a certain “Kay-ness” to them now that I’ve done a few. This might not be unique to just me but I can see a pattern in my pictures.
We started early. My cousin Desiree did make up for me (she’s really good even if not professionally trained) and it was really hot and humid. The light’s usually only good till about 9:30 and then it gets really harsh so we had to be quick. I shot about 200 in all and have a shortlist of about 40 so 20% is really quite a bit better than the 100% failure on macarons that I did last week - both times too (the weather’s too humid is what I say)!
Will probably post more when we’ve selected and I’ve retouched.
