Japanese for lunch

Chirashi sushi

At a somewhat random Japanese restaurant at Plaza Singapura. Through the Hungry Go Where app, I think the name of this restaurant is Bishamon Express but I may be wrong. It’s sorta diagonally opposite Carl’s Jr Burgers.

The menu is rather limited and even though we were there at about 12:45, they’d already run out of chawan mushi. How could they have so early in the day and chawan mushi is pretty much egg and dashi and can be whipped up in under 20 minutes including cooking time.

The chirashi sushi don didn’t quite have enough fish; usually the fish is chopped up into smaller pieces - I reckon chirashi sushi came about from the ends of sashimi slabs. I asked for no ika and no tamago expecting them to replace it but it didn’t look like they had. Bad Bishamon. My dad had the chicken teriyaki set. The chicken was fried slightly crispy and for me that was just rather weird.

If you’re in Plaza Singapura, a better bet might be the Tokyo Walker, a food “street.” Still it wasn’t bad, just not as good as I would have liked it to be.
