Paris - a miscellany
2 days in Paris is too short, even for a food trip. Street crêpes are a must though and we just stopped at a random crêpe stall at the Christmas market along the Champs-Élysées. Me being me, I always have the Nutella.

Many of my friends in London have had the opportunity to try the macarons I made. I’ve been experimenting with making colourful macarons but using liquid colouring messes with the consistency of the macarons. I’ve searched high and low for powdered colouring in the UK but I just can’t find any. I think there are in the US. So anyway, as per le book’s recommendation, we made out way to G. Detou, which seems to be a rather corny play on words - “j’ai de tout” - which means “I have everything.” And I found (and bought) poweder food colouring in strawberry red, violet and egg yolk yellow. For fellow Singaporeans in the baking know, G. Detou is rather like a French version of Phoon Huat (the website doesn’t do the stores justice).
