Only I would think it too hot
Met Ben’s girlfriend on Sunday. Can’t work out what ethnicity she is but I think Indian. I was really tired yesterday and really didn”t feel like going out; sometimes I shy away from meeting new people because I can usually size up a person pretty quickly and decide if I like him/her or not. I’m really happy we got along. She had spunk and character, was interesting to talk to and wasn’t clingy and territorial. We went on a walk by the canel starting from Limehouse back onto London Fields (Broadway Market, yay).
I generally like sunny days in London but Sunday’s sunshine was a ferocious beast and at some point, somewhere near Mile End, I decided, “today is just too hot,” as I saw people sunbathing amidst reeds and weeds in a field. It took us almost 3 hours to get from Limehouse to London Fields. There were supposed to be ‘pit stops’ along the way, offering free food tastes if you had a card to stamp but none of the pitstops asked for a card from us to stamp on and not all of them were restaurants providing a taste of their menu. The first stop was at Leanne & Eugene’s estate where we had a pretty good mushroom bruschetta taster. Unfortuantely the other pitstops were either sadly lacking in yummy bites or had “sold out.”
By the time we made it to London Fields, I was famished. A choice of Sunday roast at The Cat & Mutton pub included roast pork belly - I had that. Ben & Nadia had duck terrine bruschetta. I’ve never really liked duck terrne… I had intended to take pictures of th e food but we’d been waiting for the food to arrive and we’d been waiting for tables to free up so I tucked in and promptly forgot. I think the heat had something to do with it too!
