Brunch at Peels

I think I came across Peels on Twitter. I don’t even remember when but this trip to the City in May, it was definitely on my must-go list. I’d heard good things about their brunch.

At 325 Bowery (Corner of 2nd St), Sheryl and I had difficulty determining whether to turn left or right for 325. The thing about New York is that you need to know whether you’re walking north/south and east/west. Once you have that down, it’s easy. Peels didn’t have a very prominent signage either and we didn’t the lighted sign till we were leaving. It was a sunny day though.

There’s at least two storeys in Peels. The ground floor was really bustling, noisy and there wasn’t much space so we went upstairs where it was quieter, and where there was more light.

I’m pretty sure the table pictured above is a small business holding a morning meeting or brainstorm. And the upstairs is great for meetings like that.
Buttermilk pancakes with rhubard compote for Sheryl and eggs benedict with asparagus tips for me.

And a latte, mais oui. Also in the background you’ll notice a house shaped bottle with maple syrup, for those who like their maple syrup. I hate places that skimp on it, dont’ you?

Quite definitely a good breakfast, we thought.

I’m really glad I came across Peels. Happy.
