A coptic bound book

So far at Notabilia’s bookmaking course, I’ve learned how to make an accordion style book, a Japanese stab bound book and on Saturday, finally a Coptic bound book. My favourite so far is the Coptic coz it lies flat when opened, making it easy to journal in. On Sunday (class was on Saturday), I spent a good coupe of hours hunched over a desk slicing paper, folding paper, poking holes through paper with my new awl (that I happily found at Daiso after no luck at Art Friend; they didn’t even know what an awl was even when I showed them pictures)…

… threading needles and sewing. Times like this, I wish I had a third hand to help me with the holding of paper. All in all, pretty happy with the first solo attempt. It’s a B5 sized notebook and I managed to score some B4 paper (at Daiso too) which is the perfect size for a notebook in my opinion. Whoot!
