A trip to the supermarket

My parents are away for a few days and I have the whole place to myself and so I needed some groceries! Here’s what I bought yesterday.

The haul included some stewing beef and carrots with which I made beef bourguignon (pics and recipe to come soon), minced beef to make my own burgers, bacon (but of course), some pork loin and Panko breadcrumbs to make Japanese katsu, two punnets of sweet smelling strawberries, a bag of Mesclun salad leaves, green tea, Green & Blacks chocolate ice cream (which comes straight out of the freezer at the smoothest consistency), and some miscellaneous baking stuff.

I also saw this - but I didn’t buy it. I couldn’t figure out what the hell “twee bak” is. I’m going to assume it’s some form of dialect - Hokkien most probably coz that’s rather common in Singapore. I saw this both in NTUC Fair Price AND Cold Storage and was rather intrigued why Cold Storage would ever name something like this in dialect?

I first went to NTUC (Novena Square 2) coz it was nearer and my parents have a rebate card. I spent 10 minutes in there and walked out empty handed because there was nothing I could buy. No decent bacon, didn’t see any mince beef. I wanted lamb too - not a chance! Lamb to slow cook or lamb mince to make Moroccan meatballs would have been nice but even Cold Storage (Novena Square) didn’t have any - the only lamb they had were the two French cut racks of lamb.

Some people put up pictures of their clothing haul or make up and I have food :)

I hope everyone’s eating well. Bon appetit!
