Homemade coleslaw with sliced tomatoes
I finally made something today. Coleslaw. It was fresh, didn’t require heat to cook, and the Cold Storage at United Square didn’t have sufficient ingredients for me to make the other salad I wanted to make; could not get my hands on baby spinach, radishes, cranberries or almonds. I don’t have a car here and my parents converted their car to a weekend car. (NB: Driving in...

Some people I met in Santa Fe
Loads of pictures of Megan and one of Megan and I, taken by Tartelette. Megan and I found that we had so much in common, from the insane love of eggs to best friends with the same name (spelt differently though, her’s is Shari and mine’s Cheri). Oh and we give nicknames to the people in our lives. Unfortunately, I’m much shorter than she is, as you can see :) Helene...

Amazing veggie lunch as reviewed by a carnivore
I was in Santa Fe from 5 - 9 May for a food styling and photography workshop conducted by the lovely Helene of Tartelette, organised by Angela Ritchie of Ace Camps. (By the way, if you were curious about going to a camp, I have to say that I’m uber impressed with Angela’s camps, have had an amazing experience and will definitely go to another one of her camps!) I’ve never...

Kid in a candy store
I went to Disneyland yesterday with an old friend (of circa. 10 years). Disneyland was more fun than I thought it would be, given my advancement of years since the first time I was there. I remember Small Word and I somewhat remember Space Mountain (a rollercoaster) but a lot of the other stuff was new, keeping up with the more recent Disney cartoons like Finding Nemo. My favourite ride I...

Santa Fe free & easy
My blog seems to be full of Instagram pictures lately. This one is of one of the streets by the main square in downtown Santa Fe, where I am right now at one of Angela Ritchie’s Ace Camps - food styling and food photography with Helene Dujardin of Tartelette. Julie and I arrived a day before the others (on the evening of the 5th), together with Helen and Angela so it was just the four of...

New York 5 May, 12:30pm
I didn’t think I’d be back in New York so soon so even though this trip was short - two had days, two full days - I’ve pretty much done what I set out to do and more. Continuing from where I left off, this is what I’ve done. Peels for breakfast. It’s a lovely cafe/restaurant: wooden tables and floors with white and olive green accents. I had the Spring Benedict -...

New York so far 3 May, 6pm
I arrived yesterday and by the time I made it to Manhattan, it was 4pm. Not bad at all. This was my (evolving) plan for New York. So to date (3 May 6 pm) I’ve: Watched Bill Cunningham at Village East Walked into Katz’s Deli but have not eaten there. Am planning a lunch run there tomorrow. Walked to Brooklyn and had pizza at Grimaldi’s (again) - this time with an...
