So I did a make up shoot last week
This is my gorgeous friend Rana, who’s a make up artist. I’ve had tremendous amounts of fun shooting with her. Hopefully, more to come.

The great British tradition
Still not a convert to the great British tradition of The Pub. Sure it depends on my mood, but generally, not a pub fan. Hipstamatic - now that I am a big fan of.

Some people I once met...
A continuation from the Amsterdam shoot. The second day was Brussels. Of course, we weren’t in the city centre (though I did get a chance to roam the streets one evening where some waiter tried to ask me out after his shift and early one morning as I was searching for a Le Pain Quotidien). We’d had Indonesian-style ‘rice box takeaways’ for dinner the night before so...

Bar Chocolate
Today, Evonne and I had cocktails at Bar Chocolate on D’Arblay Street. (Note: the place is actually somewhat more “pub like” than bar like from the pictures on the website.) We were commemorating the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Onwards and upwards.

A lunch at Brindisa
I’ve heard good things about Brindisa and have always wanted to go and finally did. Prior to this trip to Tierra Brindisa, I’d only had the take away chorizo sandwich at the Borough Market stall, which is a definite must-have if you’re at Borough Market. Definitely give the Brindisa range of Spanish foods/restaurants a go. They’ve got quite a few in London.

A afternoon in pictures
On the 1st floor (one above ground for non-Brits) at Maison Bertaux where chocolate mousse cake and prune & almond tart were consumed along with Earl Grey tea. Overlooking Greek Street, taken with the iPhone Hipstamatic, shaken not stirred. Singapore at the National Geographic store on Regent Street.

It's subtle but it's there
The end of summer bank holiday is only just around the corner. After that, is it officially fall? I sense fall approaching - the subtle changes hinting at cooler days ahead. One of the things I’ve noticed, not the falling leaves, is the emergence of red and orange berries on trees. These berries last till some time past Halloween. Is it me or does time pass more quickly the more candles I...

Cookies
Homemade cookies are the best and always help make a dreary day feel better. Especially when eaten with milk.

8.37 km today...
… in 1 hr 7 min & 56 seconds. I am very proud of my running progress. I know it so I say it again. Some people are born to run - their very form takes on a forward motion. I am not. Of course we were made to run in school but I always sucked at it. In 2004, I decided to climb Mount Kinabalu and in preparation, I started to run. I still remember my first run at East Coast where I think I...

Ca'puccino
My new fave cafe in Westfield’s is Ca’puccino I think. It’s a cafe filled with books on dismay and I love books. The coffees have good froth albeit without the latte art nor is the actual espresso as good as Fermandez & Wells but it’s near home and there’s soothing music and has a quiet chill out feel to it. There’s glass all around and I love looking out and watching the world hurry past...

The world is a big scary place
What do you do with a B.A. in English What is my life going to be? Four years of college and plenty of knowledge Have earned me this useless degree I can’t pay the bills yet ‘Cause I have no skills yet The world is a big scary place But somehow I can’t shake The feeling I might make A difference, to the human race. - Avenue Q

Feeling just a little lost
I’m sitting at F&W with my latte, just us two. Today’s been a weird day, starting with me waking u at 6 in the morning again for no reason. I hate waking up twice and I really should just get up the first time. I didn’t achieve the main objective of today’s excursion to the city. I couldn’t get in. I don’t want to see people actually so I think I’m...

Lavender blue
Lavender’s blue, dilly dilly, lavender’s green When I am king, dilly, dilly, you shall be queen Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so? ‘Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so We went to a lavender farm last week just outside the M25. I was actually wondering whether we were free to pick our own lavender but then I saw the sign - good thing too! We walked...

"I've only ever been to the Laduree in Paris"
… is something that I (fortunately or unfortunately, you pick) can’t say anymore after yesterday’s chocolate, vanilla, caramel with salted butter, raspberry and pistachio macarons from Laduree, along with 2 cups of coffee each coz the cups were tiny! After some internal debating, I’m think I’m a purist with my faves being the chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla _is_...

Running (away)
I needed to run today and I’m glad Sam pushed me to do it. 7.14 km in 56 minutes. A considerable improvement over Sunday’s run where I did 6.77km in 56 minutes. I think I have a slightly clearer head plus I’m now really tired and therefore should be able to sleep soundly; I’ve been waking up at about 6 in the morning and going back to sleep till about 8 - it’s...

Guacamole à la Kay
This was part of yesterday’s lunch when we went to the Mayfields lavender fields, just outside the M25. It’s guacamole but because we’re all such meat lovers, I had to dial it up a meaty notch. It’s mashed avocado, with fried bacon bits, chopped onions and chopped tomatoes, with a touch of lemon juice so that the avocados wouldn’t turn brown. Pepper to taste. Taken...

Strawberries
Playing around with food photography. I took this with my [new] Panasonic Leica 45mm F2.8 macro lens (35mm camera equivalent: 90mm) and can’t decide if I’m writing about the strawberries - English strawberries are the best! - or taking the photo, which was a lot of fun - I love food photography. So on my parents’ recent trip to London, they bought me a present - a 45-200mm...

Inspiration
The night. Cool air, not cold. A pair of headphones so that I don’t disturb. And pictures and videos. These are the things that are inspiring me right now. Ever since Jayna introduced me to Fstoppers on Vimeo, I’ve been going back and discovering more great videos. I love watching them, I’m enthralled, I’m learning, and I want to learn. This is what it’s supposed...

Cupcakes and cocktails
About a month ago, Jayna and I attended a “cupckaes and cocktails” course. The cocktails were pretty much crap, other than it was an exceedingly hot day and we needed to drink tons of liquids. But the cupcake decorating was really fun! We were told that we could take 6 cupcakes home with us but the I took 7 because then they wouldn’t move around in the box so much. Hah! We...
