Once
Full lyrics here, from the movie Once.
I love this song.
Especially
“I don’t know you But I want you All the more for that Words fall through me And always fool me And I can’t react And games that never amount To more than they’re meant Will play themselves out”
I don’t generally like English films - they’re graded rather depressingly for...

How much fun we had!
Broadway Market. Tarts from Coco & Me. Marie, Jayna and me, with Harry trigger happy camera operator.
I don’t remember what made us laugh so hard but I love this photo’s girly girl fun, energy, character and spontaneity. I even love the fact that my eyes are back to their snakelike slits. I’m really lucky to have come so far in London. Come August 9th, it’ll be four...

Coco, her tarts & me
No trip to Broadway Market is complete without making a pit stop to ooh and ahh and purchase one (or more) of Tamami Haga’s gorgeous treats. I bought a lemon and chocolate as I couldn’t decide between the two. Jayna bought the mixed berry.
I think I might actually be inspired to bake a chocolate tart tonight in preparation for my parents’ arrival tomorrow. Or lemon. Or...

More East London
This was taken quite a few weeks ago where the sun was still playing hide and seek with London, peeking through and teasing us with his warmth and then pulling back and being allusive. I arranged to meet up with Harry for the first time, Harry being the ex-colleague of my ex-boss from Batey days. Jayna came along to Broadway Market and we met up with Marie.
Marie, bless her daring soul,...

Ducks in a row
I really appreciate my friends in faraway places. I now have my ducks in a row, many thanks to Andrew R, Chris M, David S and Daniel W. Thank you for taking me in.
Tomorrow
I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I have more to write and more to say but I can’t write anything and I can’t say much. So for now, I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
I do miss the stars
Even though I’m a city girl, there are things about the country that I love and one of them being the stars in the night sky. Singapore is too bright, shining with light everywhere. London too polluted. I wonder if I’ll even notice when its night in NYC or if I’ll be too caught up doing other things.
Most recently I stuck my head out of a stationary car window and marvelled at...
Another run in the bag
I’ve never been much of a runner but this week, I’ve run a total of 15.17 km over 3 runs. 4.89 km Monday 5.15 km Wednesday 5.14 km Friday (today) And now keeping track of running is so much easier with Endomondo (I am extremely happy even if it means I have to carry my BB around with me).
I am not a runner - you know how some people look as if they’re built...

The Breakfast Club, Hoxton
East London’s pretty fun. The people are uber trendy and dare to be different. “Hipsters” apparently - I’d only recently learnt of this subculture. We went to The Breakfast Club and it’s like an old school Californian diner that’s just off the beach. This is a place where they put a bottle of maple syrup on every table :) The food was good, not great, but the...

The best (and 1st & only) BBQ of Summer 2010
It was a lovely day for Sue & Shel’s BBQ on on their roof top terrace. Being out there made me think of the roof top parties you see in movies set in NY. All that was missing was a string of coloured lightbulbs. Shel, ever being the chef, made Korean marinated pork bulgogi for us which was totally yum! Sigh - the benefit of having a garden or an outside space eh? For fun summer days -...

A day with the Leica S2 and John Wright
(Still) listening to Kings of Leon as I write this.
I had a great weekend, starting early Thursday night as I had Friday off to attend a photoshoot with John Wright. A couple of weeks ago I entered a Leica S2 competition and what do you know - I won a shoot experience day with John Wright and Leica. I never win anything so you can imagine my excitement when I received the email and phone call....
Thoughts
I’m the sort of person who can listen to a favourite track over and over and over again. I’m the sort of person (who belonged to the era where dual tape deck cassette recorders were de rigueur; before the age of digital and “repeat”) who would fill a blank cassette with one song and just play it for hours.
The weekend started on Friday and has been good so far....
