Papa Palhetta
Best coffee I’ve had in Singapore. Fernandez & Wells quality - except that they concede to use low fat milk when the customer asks for it. I don’t mind low fat milk and I buy it but when I am drinking good coffee, I prefer the experience to be “an experience” and will gladly drink whole milk mmm.

I’m at Chijmes. I’ve just finished lunch with an ex-colleague who’s returned from Beijing. We got along right from the start because we were both Singaporeans working abroad. So today’s my 19th day at home but it doesn’t quite feel like home anymore. It feels comfortable and familiar but my room is really my dad’s TV room and the furniture is years old, dated and starting to look it. I do love my bed though with my King Koil mattress but I hate the sheets which I bought years and years ago before I saw the beauty of white sheets.

Japanese for lunch

Paris - a miscellany

Raw beef and Le Trumilou
As usual from Chocolate & Zucchini’s book, Steffy and I headed to Le Trumilou for some lunch despite Steff’s hankering for fries from French McDonald’s, which I forbade her to eat. Pizza Del Navona

No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to Ladureé. I still remember sitting on the 4th floor and Caroline sharing a box of her Ladureé macarons (directly from Paris) with me. I’d never before had a macaron and it was an eye opening experience. Ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan of macarons.

Pierre Hermé and the Ispahan
I thought Steffy’s (well, Pierre Hermé’s) Ispahan deserved special mention as it is his signature piece. We trooped to Pierre Hermé for some sweet treats and Steffy wanted the infamous Ispahan. It come complete with a dew drop on the rose petal. And the heart of it? A raspberry stuffed into a lychee. :)
Me? I chose his Deux Mille-Feuille which was layer upon layer of paper thin...

Le Loir dans la Théière
Steffy met me at Gare du Nord and before heading to the hotel to dump my bags, our first stop was Le Loir dans la Théière at 3 rue de Rosiers in the 4ème arrondissement, where Steffy had already been with her friend before from Clotilde Dusoulier’s book.

Paris by Hipstamatic
I got my iPhone replaced today because after using it for about 4 months, it started giving me ‘no sim installed’ message when there obviously was. Somehow during the transfer I lost my Hipstamatic pictures but I have backups somewhere. Good thing I’d already transferred my Paris by Hipstamatic photos out.
