Seriously tired
Sleeping cat, Lille. I am seriously tired. Last night I stayed up till past one in order to speak to China. I was kept busy catching up on work emails and part watching The Butterfly Effect which was weird altogether and rather engaging. Not a movie you could watch over and over again like Connie & Carla (which I did watch over the weekend, again). My alarm rang at 6:30 but I didn’t...

A week of "oeufs brouillés"
This week has been a week of scrambled eggs. Metaphorically of course. Most days have been sans breakfast even though the intent was there. Some days were good busy (today); some days have been bad busy (Tuesday). Lots of details are hazy - everything has just moved at such a pace. I am now dead to hair dye (pun intended, if you got it) and am moving onwards and upwards. I know someone, an ex...

Camden reinvented
Now that they’ve (re-)opened parts of Camden, I love Camden. Steffy and Jasmine would love the new Camden markets. Shopping isn’t only goth rock anymore even though it still forms a significant part of the high street. A very interesting shift (in London high street fashion) - lots of Asia-manufactured clothes are now readily available in high street shops like Topshop and Dorothy...

Itsu sirloin steak noodles
I’ve never liked beans and one of the reasons for not having bought this before was because there are beans. But a colleague had this for lunch a few weeks ago and the sesame shallot dressing smelled so good I had to give it a go. And I wasn’t disappointed. I started off with a spoonful of beans - not too bad, didn’t taste beany, and fantastic with the yummy dressing on. Mixed...

They were strawberries, it's been so cold recently...
Berry picking is fun. I don’t think they charge that much more than the supermarkets do but I definitely did eat some along the way. Strawberries and raspberries. It’s really easy to get carried away when picking berries; I could have just kept filling my boxes! I’ve never had fresher raspberries in my entire life. In Singapore, raspberries are even more expensive than...

Sunday in Queen's Park
Had a lazy late morning Sunday brunch with Leanne & Eugene and Sam at Queen’s Park. I never knew how nice the Queen’s Park high street was. A colleague told me about the weekly farmers’ market in Salusbury Primary School on Salusbury Road and I wanted to check the area out further. The Queen’s Park market is open every Sunday from 10 - 2. It’s not a very big...

10 things to think about
The pleasantries you exchange with people build relationships. It’s social currency that you deposit into a bank. However if you speak to someone five times a day, ‘how are you?’ each time becomes annoying and a waste of time; get to know the person so that a ‘how was your weekend’ is actual concern. Respect is earned and given freely. It cannot be demanded of....

Sunshine and laundry in Cornwall
I love laundry on a washing line and it’s because there are a few things behind that simple act of drying. Firstly it indicates space. Space is such an expensive commodity in Central London as I’ve been finding out. It indicates a back garden. While I’m not big on gardens (I’m not a garden tending sort nor would I spend lots of time outside in the sun) it is nice for...

Diner and portraits
Just uploaded another batch of photos from Cornwall with my parents to Flickr last night. Sunday night, we went to a little restaurant on the Mousehole (pronounced Mouzzell) side of Penzance next to a little stream. It was the day before my dad’s birthday and it was a little way to celebrate after the utterly uncomfortable overnight train journey where we discovered that “sleeper train” didn’t...

Tomorrow
I think I worry incessantly about the future. “Where will I love?” and “Will I have enough money?” are my two biggest fears. “What if?” seems to be my underlying concern. It wasn’t always this way. When I was younger the future seemed too far away for me to bother with it. When I was making my way over the London, all I could see was my immediate...

Workin nine to five
… Not really… It’s generally more like 8.30 to 7 most days but today I left work at 10. At night. Even the long summer days aren’t long enough to shine some sun on my journey home. I’m thrilled to be working on the pitch though but my back is absolutely killing me and soon there won’t be any more pilates classes… hard times this is… Walked along...

London hot hot hot!
I know lots of people love the heat and sunshine spell that we’ve experienced over the last few days but it’s been a little too hot for me, especially in the office. We have an “eco” building with a skylight, and with the air conditioning just not working well enough, the office is a veritable greenhouse! I discovered that we have an ice machine in the bar downstairs a few...
