Foodie in Singapore
Strangely, this trip, I haven’t been wolfing down Singaporean food that I thought I couldn’t get my hands on the last trip I was back. I think I’ve got to know more food places in London. I think it’s been too hot to eat a lot. My facebook list isn’t even half ticked of! I did however, get some fried squid from Old Chang Kee, dumplings from Fong Kee, Fish Head Curry...

It’s been so cold the last week or so since the day after Boxing Day when we were freezing our butts and ears off in Cambridge. My dad prepared a pre-paid SIM for me before I got back, spare mobile phone and everything - thanks Dad. Little England in Singapore
Enroute to Lorong Buangkok, my dad said, “Wanna go to England?” I thought he was confused but he said, “You’ll see.” So we drove into the Seletar Airport camp area and voila: Picadilly Circus, Baker Street, Bayswater, Oxford Street, Mornington Crescent and our very own Knightsbridge. How quaint!

I packed a lot in the first day. Breakfast, church, lunch, dinner. Had to juggle a few things around in order to accommodate the all-important reunion dinner which was schedule way ahead of the eve of CNY in order to have the most numbers of people. Pretty in pink
Baby shower? Everyone at the office loved the idea of one but no one had any idea what was involved in one. Not even those who’d actually had kids. Not even Americans who’d actually had kids. So we toasted with champagne and orange juice and indulged in chocolate brownies, iced cinnamon biscuits, and lemon iced chocolate cake from Konditor & Cook.

Yes, the Blackberry is new. I got it today. But it’s not the only thing that’s new. Starting in this new year, I move on to a new assignment and I won’t be working on this anymore and in light of this new assignment - the Blackberry. I’m happy about the move; everyone’s been telling me that I’ll learn a lot and that it’ll be a whole new experience.

Laureate, one of our fave haunts for dim sum is closed for renovations. We peeked in and the new layout has long bench tables, like those in Wagamama or Cha Cha Moon. I think that’s a mistake because a lot of the Hong Kong tea house flavour (pardon the unintended pun) is lost.
