Foodie in Singapore
Strangely, this trip, I haven’t been wolfing down Singaporean food that I thought I couldn’t get my hands on the last trip I was back. I think I’ve got to know more food places in London. I think it’s been too hot to eat a lot. My facebook list isn’t even half ticked of! I did however, get some fried squid from Old Chang Kee, dumplings from Fong Kee, Fish Head Curry...

It froze
Update: On a separate occasion, it was really foggy! It’s been so cold the last week or so since the day after Boxing Day when we were freezing our butts and ears off in Cambridge. Yesterday on the way home I saw that the canal had frozen over and instead of ripples of water, it was a sheet of ice. I took a picture but it was too dark. This morning the effect was so much more...

Good friends
My dad prepared a pre-paid SIM for me before I got back, spare mobile phone and everything - thanks Dad. What I realized though, was that the people that he had the phone numbers of the people I’d been out most with this past week programmed into his phone. They’re my good friends who’ve passed stuff to me through my parents when I’ve been in London. I’d never have...

Little England in Singapore
Enroute to Lorong Buangkok, my dad said, “Wanna go to England?” I thought he was confused but he said, “You’ll see.” So we drove into the Seletar Airport camp area and voila: Picadilly Circus, Baker Street, Bayswater, Oxford Street, Mornington Crescent and our very own Knightsbridge. How quaint!

Food :: Family :: Friends - A Singaporean dream
I packed a lot in the first day. Breakfast, church, lunch, dinner. Had to juggle a few things around in order to accommodate the all-important reunion dinner which was schedule way ahead of the eve of CNY in order to have the most numbers of people. I was supposed to head over to Twinnie’s after but was so tired (I’d been fighting sleep the whole day). Haven’t ticked many...

iPod and batteries
Since getting my new laptop when I ported my data from my old laptop, I hadn’t bothered reorganizing my iTunes songs, but instead left them as backup in an external hdd. I hadn’t even connected my iPod to my laptop for more than 9 months because I’d been charging it via the speaker set that some bastard(s) took. I knew I was dangerously low on reserve battery juice but I...

More beginnings
It’s CNY soon, just after the Roman new year. There’s a lot to be thankful for and moving on, there’s a lot to look forward to. Food is very important in Chinese (perhaps Asian) culture and most social events take place over food; here in London, alcohol seems to be the catalyst that gets people together. This CNY dinner, we had steamboat again. Yes, again, but there’s...

Pretty in pink
Baby shower? Everyone at the office loved the idea of one but no one had any idea what was involved in one. Not even those who’d actually had kids. Not even Americans who’d actually had kids. So we toasted with champagne and orange juice and indulged in chocolate brownies, iced cinnamon biscuits, and lemon iced chocolate cake from Konditor & Cook. And of course we had pressies...

New...
Yes, the Blackberry is new. I got it today. But it’s not the only thing that’s new. Starting in this new year, I move on to a new assignment and I won’t be working on this anymore and in light of this new assignment - the Blackberry. I’m happy about the move; everyone’s been telling me that I’ll learn a lot and that it’ll be a whole new experience.

Do you dim sum?
Laureate, one of our fave haunts for dim sum is closed for renovations. We peeked in and the new layout has long bench tables, like those in Wagamama or Cha Cha Moon. I think that’s a mistake because a lot of the Hong Kong tea house flavour (pardon the unintended pun) is lost. Because Laureate was closed we ducked into Leong’s Legends. It was so bitterly cold today that we...

My new Leica D-Lux 4 and I take a walk in the sun
Woke up relatively early today because there were some things that needed to be done, one thing that needed to be bought. Today. I didn’t intend to tag along to the shops but when I saw the glorious sunshine, I knew I had get out there. First stop was brunch and we stopped at Banger Bros. The Polish there is the best. High dynamic B&W mode. The intended tube station was Notting...
