Summer Berry Tiramisu
I was so tired and sian last night that I couldn’t bring myself to cook anything for dinner so I ended up eating Korean instant noodles. And yet I had the energy and patience to make tiramisu. I made summer berry tiramisu last night (and here’s the picture). This recipe was modified from The Aunts’ recipe. The original recipe is a coffee based tiramisu and I’ve modified...

Next stop Colchester
I like cemetaries. I like the grounds and the quietness. This was taken at St. Peter’s Church in Colchester as last weekend, we went back to Andrew’s parents for The Sister’s birthday. Needless to say, we went to a pub. Most had le roast boeuf from the carvery but for some strange reason, I couldn’t stomach any red meat at all, so I had the salmon with...

Cha Cha Moon
Winnie first told me of a new Wagamama’s style restaurant some time mid May called Cha Cha Moon. Started by the same guy - Alan Yau - who opened Yautcha, Hakkasan and Wagamama. What’s on the menu? My faves are the crispy duck noodles, beef with black been sauce hor fun, cod with bittergourd glass noodles, not that I’ve tried all other dishes mind you. At the moment, each dish...

Being British
I was flipping randomly through Company Magazine and saw this article of my friend who has just returned to the UK after having lived 3 years in Singapore working in advertising as a copywriter. Some of the things she says are so close to home, with me now living in London and missing home, just reversed. For example, she said in the interview that Singaporeans work late on a regular basis and...

All about cake
This was a birthday cake I came across recently. The pink one with the stars all over. The pink and white is icing and the inside is sponge and jam. The fruit cake is a reference to show the thickness of the icing ~0.5cm. The icing’s made from icing sugar I believe. For Christmas cakes, it’s made of marzipan. So as I said, I came across this cake recently. I just found out that it...

I have no patience for spoiled, rude, misbehaving kids. None. And I’m not sorry for it. They make interesting photographs though. I mean, I like picture of smiley happy children but a misbehaving child does have its interesting points.

In need of a holiday
It’s June. Wow. I can’t believe it’s June. The weather the last few days has been beautiful but this being London, doesn’t guarantee that summer’s here or that we’ll get any more days of gorgeous sunshine. It just means that we have had some sun. The last time I had a took a break and went away was the beginning of February when I went to Paris for 4 days,...

Unexploded World War II bomb causes severe delays... →
After the ordeal with young punks disrupting tube services on Saturday night, I didn’t expect, come Monday morning, hordes of people on the eastbound H&C line at Westbourne Park trying to cram themselves into the next available eastbound train. Turns out an unexploded WWII bomb found near Bromley-by-Bow station means that there are lots of train carriages stuck beyond that can’t...

Wankers
Someone uploaded pictures of the Circle Line party that happened Saturday night as the last night of legal drinking on the tubes and called the album “Boris is a wanker” but I think the real wankers are the idiots drinking, wreaking havoc, disrupting the already-bad public transport system, and just being nuisances to society. Binge drinking and throwing up in public being another...

Sunny greeny day
Well, partly anyway. It only started to get overcast as we were preparing to leave Regent’s Park. Jamie, Evonne, Andrew and I went to Regent’s Park today for the Camden Green Gair. This year’s theme was about the sustainability of food. Not all the stalls practiced what the fair preached though, with heaps of [ordinary looking] paper plates. Evonne and I (and the boys) queued...
